With the overwhelming information coming our way regarding the Coronavirus these days, it is important to get accurate information to minimize unnecessary stress(which of course, decreases our immune system function!). Once we get the information we need then we can take natural measures to support our immunity. This is especially important right now, but we can all use this information for every flu and cold season!
The following information came from a podcast by Robin Openshaw(the Green Smoothie Girl). Robin is a health coach, who seems to have a very balanced approach to achieving optimal health, including both traditional medical and holistic medical information.
7 Supplements to Support Immune Function:
- Beta-glucan
- Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2
- Zinc
- Vitamin C (from whole food sources, not ascorbic acid)
- Oregano Oil capsules (always take with food)
- Colloidal silver
- Garlic
These supplements can be taken for 2 weeks 2 times each winter to help support our natural immunity to both viral and bacterial infections. She states she thinks we should all take Zinc, Vitamin D/K all winter long.
Another interesting point she shared is that research demonstrates that our white blood cells (especially our leucocytes) can be damaged by Wi-Fi exposure! So it is important for us to turn off our Wi-Fi at night…so much for our kids playing late-night games online! LOL!
She also shared an elixir (Hot Lemonade) recipe that can be used to shorten the duration and decrease the intensity of symptoms if we do get sick.
Hot Lemonade:
- 4 c. hot(not boiling) water
- 1/4 c. fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 2 T raw honey
- 1 inch fresh ginger (finely grated)
- 2 cloves fresh garlic (pressed or finely grated)
- as much cayenne pepper you can stand!
Mix ingredients and pour 1 c. of liquid into glass pint jar and freeze. Thaw jar in water(DO NOT microwave-as it will decrease the natural effects of the ingredients) and drink it as soon as any symptoms appear(bacterial or viral).
